Shade Tree Commission

WHEN:    Meetings: 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm

WHERE:  Room B, Municipal Complex

The STC advises the Mayor, Township Administration and staff on issues and actions affecting, or that may affect, the arboricultural resources within the Township’s borders.

• Establish policy for shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery in any public right-of-way, park and all other property owned by the Township.
• Encourage proper arboricultural practices throughout the Township.
• Encourage desirable horticultural plantings & activities throughout the Township; particularly on public properties.
• Recommend to Planning Board plans & programs to include in the Master Plan for development and use of public land.
• Administer Arbor Day activities within the Township.
• The Shade Tree Committee periodically prepares, and is guided in part, by the Community Forestry Management Plan for the Township. This Plan is prepared in accordance with The New Jersey Shade Tree and Community Forestry Act. The current version of the plan can be found on the Master Plan page.
