PENN LYLE & NEW VILLAGE ROAD PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT SCHEDULE UPDATE
West Windsor Township has allocated capital funding for the construction of pedestrian safety improvements for crosswalks adjacent to or associated with traffic to school facilities. Subject crosswalks located at the intersections below have the indicated status of work:
- Shannon Way and Village Elementary Driveway:
- Plastic will be removed from the detectable warning surface mats today (9/1).
- Concrete work is complete.
- Grading, seed, mulch should be complete by end of this week (9/4) adjacent to concrete.
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
- New Village Road and Southfield Road:
- Plastic will be removed from the detectable warning surface mats today (9/1).
- Concrete work is complete.
- Grading, seed, mulch should be complete by end of this week (9/4) adjacent to concrete.
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
- Dutch Neck School:
- Plastic will be removed from the detectable warning surface mats today.
- Concrete work is complete.
- Grading, seed, mulch should be complete by end of this week adjacent to concrete.
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
- Canoe Brook Drive and Penn Lyle Road:
- Plastic will be removed from the detectable warning surface mats today.
- Concrete curb is complete on Canoe Brook Dr side of intersection and ramps will be formed for concrete pour on 9/2.
- Tree removals on the opposite side of Penn Lyle Rd from Canoe Brook Dr are completed today (9/1).
- Concrete work will be completed by end of this week (9/4).
- Grading, seed, mulch should be complete by end of this week (9/4) adjacent to concrete.
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
- Harris Rd at Alexander Rd:
- Concrete work will be completed by end of this week (9/4).
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
- Penn Lyle Rd at Trolley Line Trail:
- Concrete work has not started, but contractor is planning to complete crossing by end of this week (9/4).
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed when they arrive from vendor.
The indicated time frames are dependent on reasonably good weather and material availability. The contractor has been pressing every day to get as much work done as possible.
