Youth Academy

police-youth-academyThe West Windsor Township Police Department is offering an opportunity for the West Windsor Township youth to come and learn about the job functions of the police officers in their community. The program will last one week with four hour blocks of instruction/activities each day. Children must be available all five days to participate. Children will have the opportunity to interact closely with police officers through activities such as physical training, search and arrest techniques, crime scene processing, K9 and drone demos and much, much more. Participants will receive a T-shirt and hat to wear as part of their “uniform.” Graduates will take an oath and receive certificates of completion during the celebration at the conclusion of the program.

  • Registration Begins: Monday, April 27, 2026 at 7 am, WWPD Headquarters
  • Registration Ends: Friday, May 1, 2026 at 3 pm, or until class is full
  • Youth Academy Dates: Monday, July 6 – Friday, July 10, 2026, 0900 – 1300 hrs
  • LOCATION: West Windsor Township PD Headquarters, 20 Municipal Drive

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all children of West Windsor Township entering 5th and 6th grades. Class size will be limited to the first 30 participants on a first come, first serve basis. Preference will be given to first-time participants.

FEE: $25.00 per child (check or money order to West Windsor Township)

Application packets will be made available at the police dispatch window beginning on April 27, 2026 at 7:00 am. Please note that the program is in high demand with limited capacity and arriving promptly at 7:00 am is recommended! Please complete the three included forms in their entirety and return them to the dispatch window by May 1, 2026 at 3:00 pm. $25.00 registration fee must be submitted at time of registration for your spot to be held. Pay by check or money order made out to West Windsor Township. Only applications dropped off directly at the dispatch window will be accepted. Due to limited capacity, we can accommodate the first 30 eligible applicants, and all others will be placed on a waitlist. If you have any questions related to the Youth Academy, please contact Det.
