SNOW STORM UPDATE - 02/21/2026

SNOW STORM UPDATE
02/21/2026

West Windsor Township is preparing for a significant winter storm forecast to impact our area beginning Sunday morning and continuing through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snowfall is expected, with the most intense period occurring Sunday evening through Monday morning. Strong winds may accompany the storm, potentially causing blowing and drifting snow, hazardous road conditions, and scattered power outages. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly Sunday night and may significantly impact the Monday morning commute.

In preparation for the storm The Township’s Department of Public Works is prepared to begin roadway pretreatment and snow removal operations as conditions warrant. Our Township Emergency Management is actively monitoring the situation.  We are coordinating closely with Police, Fire, EMS, County OEM, and utility partners to monitor conditions and respond as needed.

I urge all residents to take this storm seriously and prepare accordingly:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel Sunday night into Monday.
  • Prepare for potential power outages by charging devices and having flashlights available.
  • Check on elderly neighbors and vulnerable residents.
  • Move vehicles off roadways where possible to assist snow removal operations.
  • Clear snow from fire hydrants near your home after the storm.
  • DO NOT run generators inside of your home!

The safety of our residents remains our top priority. Please monitor official Township communications for updates as the storm approaches.

DPW

DPW crews are scheduled to report to work on Sunday (2/22) morning.  Once snow starts to fall, DPW will salt all main roads. Once the storm is over and roads are passable, we will treat and apply additional salt as needed. Our snow plow contractor typically reports once there is 4-6 inches of snow on the ground and starts plowing the secondary roads. We expect they will have to make multiple passes given the amount of snow fall. Given the quantity of snow, there will be snow banks on both sides of the road. Once the storm is over, depending on the total snowfall, we will look at the possibility of trucking it.
